U11A Cricket v Loretto
Won by 108 runs
On a bitterly cold spring afternoon our U11A Cricket Squad started their season against Loretto. Arlo lost the toss and Loretto elected to bat first, on a green early season wicket.
Jamie and Archie opened the bowling and shared four wickets between them, getting the team off to a positive start. More good bowling followed with Stuart and Miguel both bowling maidens to keep their run rate down. Johnny and Geordie took wonderful catches in the field, whilst Tommy produced a wonderful throw to run out the opposition batter. This strong fielding performance was underpinned by Jack's brilliant wicket keeping, conceding only 4 byes in 20 overs and reduced Loretto to 222.
Arlo and Tommy batted well to get the boys off to a steady start, both playing technically well and producing shots of excellent quality. More excellent batting followed from Hamish and Wilf who played powerfully to take the game away from Loretto. Johnny and Miggy rotated the strike beautifully and Bertie finished off the game with a couple of wonderful shots to finish an excellent performance, scoring 330.
