A close affair!

U11 Cricket vs Strathallan

Won by 13 runs

After a wet drive up to Strathallan, the girls jumped off the bus with loads of energy which was great to see. With a quick warm up, involving catching and bowling, Emily B and livia opened the bowling and only conceded 9 runs between them with after the first pair batted. A great start to the innings. Olivia and Alice then came into the attack and bowled well and again limited runs were scored against them. Another good partneship. Thalia and Clara then came into the attack and did extremely well picking up 3 wickets between them. Thalia 1 and Clara 2. At this point the score is at 218. Scarlett then came onto bowl and unfortuantly couldn’t find her rhythm with the ball but only went for 8 runs considering. Rosanna then bowled and got hit around a little bit going for 13 runs. With the final pair coming into bat, the girls really anted restrict Strathallan from scoring and they managed to only concede 17 runs with 2 decent batters at the crease. The final score for Strathallan was 256.

Emily B opened the batting with her partner Livia. They started well by leaving the wides and hitting boundaries. Unfortunately, we lost a wicket which meant we got to 217 after the first 2 overs. Olivia and Alice then Occupied the crease for their 2 overs and started off steady but came out with solid finishing taking the score up to 230 without losing another wicket setting a foundation for the next pairs to finish off strongly. Thalia and Clara were the third pair in for Cargi and some tricky bowling came their way with the ball not bouncing much on a wet pitch. It was almost like watching hockey again with the sweeping. Unfortunately they could only add 6 runs to the total due to losing a wicket. With Scarlett and Rosanna coming in as the second last pair, they knew they had to score a couple of runs to make it more comfortable and easier for the final pair. The bowlers managed to help them do this by bowling a few wides and no balls but they managed to hit a couple of boundaries as well which took the score to 254. With Athena and Emily Murray coming to the crease as the final pair, they knew that they had an easier task as they only needed to score a couple of runs and not get out. Athena showed some great ball striking hitting several boundaries amongst the wides and no balls from the Strath bowlers. Unfortunately, we lost a wicket on the second last ball but that didn’t matter. We Ended the game on 269 runs winning by 13 runs.
